The Hithub VinylMaster XI Folk and Acoustic 180-gram LP presents fourteen recordings of acoustic folk music captured in a single large room using a minimal microphone technique of two cardioid condenser microphones in spaced omni configuration at 1.5 meter spacing and 3 meters distance from the performing ensemble, a microphone placement philosophy that privileges the room acoustic contribution to the recorded sound over close-miked direct source capture, producing a natural spatial image in which the boundaries of the recording space are perceptible to listeners through the natural stereo cues of the room reverberation rather than artificial reverb processing. The microphones used are large-diaphragm cardioid condensers with a self-noise specification of 6 dB A-weighted, chosen to preserve the dynamic range of quiet acoustic passages that fall as low as 35 dB SPL in the recording space, ensuring that the microphone noise floor remains 19 dB below the quietest musical content. The recording was made to two-track quarter-inch analog tape at 30 inches per second using a Nagra -S recorder, providing a tape noise floor of minus 67 dB relative to 320 nanowebers per meter reference level, and the tape master was cut directly to lacquer without digital transfer, preserving a fully analog signal path from microphone to groove. The 180-gram pressing is packaged in a tip-on sleeve with a matte finish outer laminate.
