The Hithub GrooveDisc Ambient and New Age Meditation CD presents seventy-two minutes of immersive ambient and new age recordings selected for their therapeutic and meditative applications, mastered at a low average loudness of negative 23 LUFS integrated across the full disc duration in compliance with the European Broadcasting Union R128 loudness standard, preserving the wide dynamic range characteristic of ambient music in which sudden silence and near-inaudible textures are as musically significant as the loudest passages. The recordings span a variety of ambient sub-genres: pure drone works using detuned string overtones with natural sustain decay, field recordings of water, wind, and birdsong combined with synthesized tonal beds, minimalist piano compositions with extended reverb tails from convolution impulse responses captured in large natural spaces including cathedrals and caves, and binaural beat tracks embedded at 10 Hz theta wave frequency for facilitating meditative focus states, produced at a carrier frequency of 200 Hz with a 10 Hz difference between left and right channels. The binaural beat tracks require headphone listening to be effective, as the differential frequency perception is destroyed by loudspeaker crosstalk. The disc uses a clear-tray jewel case housing a 20-page booklet printed on recycled 120 gsm uncoated stock using soy-based inks, with each track accompanied by a description of the intended emotional and psychological effect of the recording.
